What are some good cosmetics for lightskinned blacks?

I am a lightskinned black woman and I have a hard time finding cosmetics in drugstores that are the right skin tone. Either they are too light or too dark. There seems to be no in between. I can't afford the higher end products all the time(department stores) can anyone help? What are some good cosmetics for lightskinned blacks?
go to mac. it has the greatest range of shades and you can try it. that is the main problem with drugstore brands. i suggest mac since it is not too expensive, it works very well and has a the greatest range of colours and products.

here are some ways to save money:

use a wet sponge to apply your foundation. you will use less, gives good coverage (if you get a full coverage foundation), and give a very smooth and natural looking skin.

use a loose powder with a big face brush. it lasts forever...much longer than the compact and gives a great natural look.

buy drugstore lipsticks, eyeshadows, liners, etc.

i do suggest buying a good blush though as it has to match you and you should be able to try it on.

drug store lines i like:

l'oreal shadows have good pigment so what you see is generally what you get and it goes on well.

maybelline great lash and l'oreal voluminous.

rimmel is inexpensive and works well.

love the sonis kaschuk (think that is how you spell the last name) products at target. she has great brushes.

keep in mind that if you get stuff that looks great on you, you will not have to spend that much on make you will never use.

even though i am a makeup artist, my personal makeup bag is very small and has the items i use everyday...one lipstick nars dolce vita. one blush nars orgasm, one lancome 4 colour eysehadow palette, one laura mercier liner cake and one l'oreal mascara, armani foundation, chantecaille powder and concealer and bobbi brown shimmer brick. that is 8 products. the only 8 i use everyday and it takes me 5 minutes to do a full face since i do not have to make decisions and i always look consistent and polished. other than the mascara and lipstick, the other products last me at throughout the year. What are some good cosmetics for lightskinned blacks?
Try getting a facial from a mary kay consultant (you can go to marykay.com and click on ';find a consultant'; at the top of the page), or going to a department store table to get a facial. Have them write down the colors that they used on you. Then go to a drug store and look for colors similar to that. That way, you're not spending department store prices, but you're getting what colors look good on you by a makeup artist. I hope this helps!
Virtual Makeover is great. You can play with colors and find a look you will love. Then it shows you how to apply your new look. Just click the link below.
You can always go sans make-up --- that's always my favourite!

But - if you can't find the right tone, you can always mix one meant for blacks and one meant for whites. This is especially possible if you buy both products from the same line. Experiment at first and try to mix the two until you get a colour close to your tone and then make more at the same ratio and store in a container for later use. It might sound like a lot of work - but it really isn't, and you'll have the perfect colour for yourself!

Good luck!
You most likely have the skintone that everyone would die for. Go natural with a good lotion and just a tad of a light colored mascara. And for a night out just eyeliner for extra. Brush your lips with a toothbrush and just use gloss.
Mary Kay ($14) - If you looking for a perfect match find a local beauty consultant on MaryKay.com all consultations are free, and there is no obligation to buy but they can match your exact skin color to one of the medium coverage foundations. Also if you buy it and don't like it, Mary Kay has a 100% money back guarantee.

hey i had the same problem too...my mom is really light, her dad was french canadian so she has more of a yellow tone to her than black and my dad is black, so i came out with a reddish tone which sucks when it comes to applying make-up. i've tried SEVERAL different brands, but the one i like the best is the maybelline cream matte..it goes on really smooth. now since my color doesn't match any powder's i do have to use two i use covergirl matte powder's they're perfect. i use the lighter of the two first and then i use a brush stick to swipe on the darker color so my face is blended evenly and it matches my neck! i know it sounds like a process but since all the make-up people in this world are white, there is not help for us weird colored black girls..i hope this helps! :)
hmm..well try the mall=]
Clinique is a great brand for different types of tones in skin color. I provide a link below so you can check out their products.
